The Taliban have reportedly executed the brother of former Afghan Vice President Amrullah Saleh who was one of the leaders of anti-Taliban opposition forces in Panjshir valley.
According to Reuters, Taliban forces killed Saleh's brother, Rohulla Azizi, when they took control of the Panjshir valley provincial center.
The Taliban have reportedly been responding violently to protests in many parts of Afghanistan, using live ammunition, batons and whips.
According to the UN Human Rights office on Friday, these actions have resulted in at least four deaths.
A UN spokesperson urged the Taliban to stop using violence, saying that peaceful protests are protected under international human rights law.
