The Taliban have reportedly executed the brother of Amrullah Saleh -- the former Afghan vice president and one of the leaders of anti-Taliban opposition forces in the Panjshir valley.
According to Reuters on Saturday, Taliban forces took control of the provincial center of the Panjshir valley and killed Saleh's brother Rohullah Azizi.
The Taliban have reportedly been responding to protests in many parts of Afghanistan with violence, using live ammunition, batons, and whips.
According to the UN Human Rights office on Friday, at least four have died due to the Taliban's use of force.
A UN spokesperson urged the Taliban to stop using violence, saying that peaceful protests are protected under international human rights law.
