2020 Tokyo Paralympic Games kicks off with opening ceremony held on Tuesday Updated: 2021-08-24 20:46:43 KST

The Paralympic Games kicked off tonight with the opening ceremony held at Tokyo's Olympic Stadium.
Around 4,400 competitors from more than 160 countries and territories are in Japan for the 2020 Games which will run until September 5th.
The first team to be introduced at the opening ceremony was the one representing refugees.
South Korea's delegation was 82nd.
For Afghanistan, its flag was shown during the opening ceremony parade as a sign of solidarity and peace, even though Afghan athletes are unable to participate.
The games will feature 5-hundred-39 medal events across 22 sports, and for the first time ever, the first Paralympic champions will be crowned in badminton and taekwondo.
