Massive amount of rain in south as typoon sweeps region Updated: 2021-08-24 06:04:59 KST

Good morning. The 12th Typhoon of the season, Omais exited from east coast at around 3 am, but a broad area of low pressure has formed and is dropping downpours across Korea. Those in southern provinces will need to brace for heavier showers throughout the day.

But conditions have improved compared to previous hours, but a wind/wave advisory is in place for seas around the peninsula and a heavy rain advisory could also be expanded to more regions today as rain will pick up

The Jeolla-do and Gyeongsang-do Provinces could see 200 millimeters more rain. The capital and Gangwon-do Province could see 30 to 80 millimeters.

It's another breezy start to the day in most parts, 22 degrees in Seoul, 23 degrees in Daejeon

Afternoon readings will be similar to a few notches higher this afternoon, Seoul and Daejeon at 28 degrees, Daegu going up to 30, but remember to keep your rain gear handy.

That's Korea for you and here's a look at weather conditions around the world.
