S. Korea has 12 4th place finishes at Tokyo 2020 Olympics, 4th most among countries Updated: 2021-08-11 09:59:29 KST

Turning to a wrap-up of the Tokyo Olympics.
South Korea placed 16th in the medal rankings, less impressive compared to past Games.
However, unlike year's gone by, the athletes received a warm welcome home.
Our Kim Do-yeon is here with a review.
Do-yeon, times appear to be changing in Korea.

Mark, South Korea hasn't placed outside the top 10 in medal rankings when it comes to the summer games since the Sydney Olympics in 2000 and BEFORE THAT it was 1976 in Montreal.
In the past, there may well have been criticism over the performances but times have changed.
Now fans focus more on an athlete's work ethic rather than medals.
An interesting stat to note here is that South Korea has 12 fourth place finishes across all events.
That's the fourth most among countries AND the three countries that have more fourth places the U.S., Great Britain, and ROC all finished in the top five medal rankings.
Fourth place finishes that received praise from fans include women's volleyball, high jump, diving, women's modern pentathlon events that fans might be unfamiliar with and where South Korea usually does not thrive.
