The U.S. has been discussing ways to try and restore democracy in Myanmar with its exiled shadow government.
Wednesday's talks between U.S. Deputy Secretary of State Wendy Sherman, and a group of Myanmar representatives were the first since the military junta ousted Aung San Suu Kyi's democratically-elected government in February..
The State Department said the U.S. stands with the pro-democracy movement, and it demands the release of people unjustly detained in Myanmar.
They also addressed COVID-19 and the need for humanitarian aid in Myanmar.
