With cases on the rise, health authorities look into extending level 4 distancing measures Updated: 2021-08-05 07:58:58 KST

South Korea on Thursday reported 1,776 new COVID-19 infections.
Case numbers receded early this week, with some 12-hundred daily infections reported on Monday and Tuesday.
But after jumping to 1,725 by Wednesday morning, Thursday's increase maintains that trend.
The level four distancing measures were originally due to end this Sunday, but rising case numbers mean health authorities are leaning into an extension.
They will announce their decision on Friday.
