President Moon Jae-in will hold a strategy and vision meeting in the coming hours to discuss plans to make South Korea a global vaccine production and supply base.
South Korea has the world's second-largest biopharmaceutical production capability.
It also aims to secure vaccine sovereignty through the development of domestic vaccines.
A soon-to-be-launched committee, to promote the nation's status, will consist of 12 members, including representatives of domestic firms.
The health minister will also brief the president on strategies to promote the vision globally.
