South Korea is taking part in the East Asia Summit Foreign Ministers' Meeting this evening to discuss regional issues.
The meeting, which is being conducted virtually, also involves the U.S., China, Japan and Russia.
Those present are expected to discuss issues related to the Korean Peninsula, particularly as the inter-Korean communication lines were restored last week.
Scheduled for Friday is the ASEAN Regional Forum, where a total of 27 countries, including the two Koreas, the U.S., China and Japan will join to discuss regional security issues.
It is the only multilateral security forum North Korea is part of.
It remains to be seen who will be participating from the North this year.
Last year, the regime's ambassador to Indonesia took part on behalf of its foreign minister.
