Chance of local downpours tonight... isolated rain forecast tomorrow amid heatwave Updated: 2021-08-02 17:14:54 KST

Amid the scorching heat, isolated showers are developing over South Korea tonight. With the cold showers coming and going, the sweltering heatwave has eased off a bit. Heatwave alerts are still in place nationwide. But apart from the southeast, warnings have been downgraded to advisories in most regions. Because rain will be adding extra moisture to the air, this will make conditions feel stuffier and temperatures feel about 3 degrees higher than the actual readings.

There's instability in the atmosphere and this will cause locally heavy downpours of around 40 millimeters per hour tonight. Rain clouds will linger tomorrow, and the entire nation can expect 5 to 50 millimeters of on-and-off showers. Thunder and lightening may follow at times, so please be extra careful.

Most regions will have a wet morning tomorrow. The capital will start off at 25 degrees Celsius.

For the daytime, Seoul will get up to 30 degrees. Daejeon 32 degrees. Daegu and Gyeongju 34 degrees.

While the nation has frequent rainfall in the forecast this week, the heatwave and tropical nights will continue.

That's all for now, and here are the weather conditions around the world.
