FDA asks Pfizer, Moderna to include more children aged 5 to 11 in vaccine trials Updated: 2021-07-27 09:43:08 KST

Pfizer and Moderna have been asked to include more children aged 5 to 11 in their vaccine trials.
The New York Times reports the FDA told Pfizer and Moderna to expand their pediatric trials to include 3-thousand children, so health authorities could better detect rare side effects.
Regulators said the original number of child participants was too small.
The expansion will likely delay emergency authorization for the two vaccines for children under 12.
