S. Korean film director Bong Joon-ho addresses anti-Asian violence in U.S. Updated: 2021-04-14 09:59:51 KST

The South Korean director of the multiple Oscar-winning movie 'Parasite' has been speaking out against anti-Asian violence in the U.S., addressing what filmmakers can do to help.
Serving as a masterclass guest lecturer for a California university, Bong Joon-ho said recent anti-Asian crimes in the U.S. had been hard for him to see.
He noted the movie industry isn't a medium that can respond in real time to issues in society.
However, he urged creators and filmmakers to be bolder and shouldn't be afraid to confront such issues.
