S. Korea approves Pfizer vaccine for ages 16 and up Updated: 2021-03-05 15:04:46 KST

And Pfizer has cleared a major hurdle in South Korea, becoming the second vaccine to be approved, after the one developed by AstraZeneca.
The Food and Drug Safety Ministry gave its approval on Friday after three rounds of consultative meetings with outside advisory panels, which reviewed clinical data that show an efficacy of 95 percent and a permissible level of safety.
The agency approved the Pfizer vaccine for those 16 and older, but because people younger than 18 are not currently included in the vaccine campaign, its use in anyone younger will require further approval from the KDCA.
