At least 38 people were killed by Myanmar's military on Wednesday in the bloodiest day since last month's military coup.
The United Nations said that the death toll has risen to 50, but activists are estimating a higher total.
Myanmar's security forces have been intensifying their response to peaceful protesters, with live ammunition being used in several cities across the country.
More than 1,200 people are known to have be detained with families unaware of their whereabouts.
