Around 10:15 AM Korea Time on Wednesday a massive delivery truck left the SK Bioscience plant in the city of Andong, Gyeongsangbuk-do Province with a large security presence both in front and back.
Inside this truck are South Korea's first COVID-19 vaccine batchesdeveloped by AstraZeneca which were being sent to the distribution center in Icheon, Gyeonggi-do Province.
During the two-hour trip of 184 kilometers, the delivery truck was under constant watch by police officers and military personnel.
At around 12:30 PM, local timethe truck arrived at the warehouse with a large group of police and armed military personnel on standby.
Then, at 5:30 AM Thursday each individual delivery truck begun to hit the road again.
"As these trucks leave this distribution center for nursing facilities nationwide.. heavy security is present at the scene."
To avoid any interruptions from other drivers and potential terror attacks, a police vehicle escorted the delivery truck in front and right behinda military vehicle.
In this specific order, the three vehicles will make their way to their final destination.
And, through multiple security cameras on the highways, deliveries will be monitored in real-time.
As well as traffic updates, vaccine temperature statuses will be shared with the delivery teams.
This whole process will continue until Sunday for all 1.5 million doses of the AstraZeneca vaccines being delivered to inoculation centers nationwide.
