10 orangutans released into wild from Indonesian rehabilitation center Updated: 2021-02-24 04:37:16 KST

Ten orangutans have been released into the wild in the Indonesian-controlled area of Borneo.
The critically endangered animals were sent to a rehabilitation center after the Borneo Orangutan Survival Foundation rescued them from captivity from neighboring countries.
A total of five males, two females and a mother with two babies were transported via helicopters to prevent possible coronavirus transmission.
The World Wildlife Fund estimates only 75-hundred Sumatran orangutans are left in the wild.
