Food prices in South Korea have been skyrocketing. and it's being attributed to last year's record-breaking monsoon season and the series of typhoons that hit the peninsula.
According to the Korea Agro-Fisheries and Food Trade Corporation on Monday, the price of onions rose nearly 70 percent on-year in January.
Apple prices were up 68 percent.
Bird flu cases at local poultry farms also had an impact on egg and chicken prices.
They rose more than 25 and ten percent, respectively.
It's projected the trend will continue for the next few months.
