Three dead and several wounded in Nice attack Updated: 2020-10-30 10:03:10 KST

Just 12 days after a teacher was beheaded in Paris, three people were killed with several others injured on Thursday, after a knife wielding man killed church-goers in the French city of Nice.
According to French President Emmanuel Macron, it was an act of terrorism.

"Ladies and gentlemen, once again our country has been hit by an Islamist terrorist attack. This morning, once again, three of our fellow compatriots have been killed in Nice, in the Notre Dame Basilica."

Police sources say the suspect is a 21 year-old Tunisian man, who arrived by boat on the Italian island of Lampedusa in September.
He was placed in COVID-19 quarantine before being released and told to leave Italy.
He arrived in France earlier this month.
According to witnesses, the attacker, shouted 'Allahu Akbar', or 'God is Greatest', before he beheaded a woman and killed two others.
The attacker was later shot and detained by police.
France has raised the security alert to its maximum level for the entire country, with all churches in Nice closed until further notice.
Thursday's attacks came on the birthday of the Prophet Mohammad.
Separately in Saudi Arabia, a security guard at the French embassy was stabbed.
The victim was taken to the hospital, and survived the attack.
