UN grants sanction waiver to Gyeonggi-do Province's plan to send aid to N. Korea Updated: 2020-08-12 13:24:24 KST

The UN Security Council has granted a waiver from its sanctions so that South Korea's Gyeonggi-do Province can supply North Korea with materials to build greenhouses.
The council's committee on North Korea says the waiver, approved on August 4th, is for materials worth 368-thousand U.S. dollars.
The greenhouses will be used to grow food and improve the nutrition of vulnerable people in Nampo and Pyongannam-do Province.
Gyeonggi-do Province has up to six months to send the materials before the waiver expires.
