The finance ministers of the G7 countries have called for a full implementation of a G20 debt freeze.
According to the U.S. Treasury Department, the G7 ministers in a teleconference addressed the G20 Debt Service Suspension Initiative, which is offered to the world's 73 poorest countries through the end of the year.
They also discussed the need for China, a G20 member, to participate fully and transparently.
So far 41 countries have applied for relief under the initiative.
The ministers also discussed domestic and international economic responses to the COVID-19 pandemic and ways to achieve a robust global recovery.
