South Korea captured their first AFC U-23 Championship title after dramatically defeating Saudi Arabia one-nil in extra time at the Rajamangala National Stadium in Bangkok on Sunday.
Despite a good display of attacking football from both teams, the finalists were left with nothing to separate them after 90 minutes until the Taeguk Warriors finally broke the deadlock with seven minutes left in the extra time when Jeong Tae-wook's header.
The win by South Koreas - their first in the fourth edition of this tournament - also qualifies them for the ninth straight Olympic Games.
President Moon Jae-in posted a message congratulating the team and coach Kim Hak-bum for their outstanding feat.
Both South Korea and Saudi Arabia return home with tickets to 2020 Tokyo Olympics as three teams from the Asian competition join host Japan in a 16-nation lineup.
