This is because 2020 is the year of the rat.

Consumers have been impressed by the store's efforts.
"Launching doughnuts by linking cheese with the cartoon characters Tom and Jerry looks good. Since these are well-known characters, I think people would find it familiar."
The rat is the first of the 12 animals of the Chinese zodiac. It signifies wealth and productiveness.
The labels on this store's bread say 'Lucky 2020', wishing customers fortune in the New Year.
"We prepared the products with these characters, hoping customers could start the new year with energy like Tom and Jerry. Since they are familiar and adorable characters, products are selling well as presents."
Cosmetic products also feature mice on their designs, this time, it is Mickey Mouse.
The famous mouse also appears on other products like moneyboxes.
As well as cartoon characters, some stores are using generic white-mice designs to decorate their products.
"This year is the year of the white mouse, and seeing this cupcake, I feel like the white mouse will bring me more luck. I hope South Korea becomes more peaceful in the new year."
And consumers will be hoping that the mice on their purchases also bring them luck in 2020.
