Starting next Friday, the Seoul city government will reduce the speed limit on 14 roads that have central bus lanes to 50 kilometers per hour.
These roads currently have mixed speed limits of 50 to 60 kilometers per hour.
The city plans to complete the construction of traffic safety facilities, such as speed limit signs and road markings in those areas within the next couple of weeks.
After a three-month grace period, police will crackdown on speeding vehicles.
Fines for violators will range from 25 to 142 U.S. dollars.
The city government is aiming to impose a 50 kilometer per hour speed limit on all roads in the capital, except highways, by the end of next year.
