S. Korea keeps its limit on duty-free purchases upon arrival at US$600 Updated: 2019-12-09 16:28:56 KST

South Korea is maintaining its limit on duty-free purchases upon arrival at 600 U.S. dollars.
The decision comes after the government announced in September that it would consider increasing the limit by analyzing data from duty-free arrival shops.
But the Tax Subcommittee at the National Assembly said there was no reason to do so.
The subcommittee is also worried that a higher duty-free limit could encourage foreign purchases amid slowing domestic demand.
