China hits out after U.S. Congress passes bill supporting Uighur Muslims in China Updated: 2019-12-06 16:25:21 KST

Tensions are threatening to bubble over between the U.S. and China again this time over the passage of a human rights act in Congress supporting the minority Uighurs in China's far west.
The U.S. House of Representatives passed a bill this week to support Uighur Muslims in China, and condemn Beijing's crackdown on them in the Xinjiang region.
Hardliners in Beijing insist the passage of the bill should prompt China to break off its ongoing trade negotiations with the U.S.
In the meantime, the South China Morning Post says more and more Chinese are leaving Xinjiang Province over concerns of possible violence breaking out in the region.
