Chinese FM Wang Yi touches down in Seoul for first time in five years Updated: 2019-12-04 07:03:49 KST

Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi is due in Seoul for the first time in five years as the two nations seek to improve ties soured over South Korea's deployment of a U.S. anti-missile system.
During his two-day visit, Wang will meet with his counterpart, Kang Kyung-wha and pay a visit to President Moon Jae-in.
Topping the agenda is expected to be President Moon's visit to Chengdu, this month for a trilateral summit with Japan and a possible visit by Chinese President Xi Jinping to South Korea in 2020.
The foreign ministers will also likely discuss measures to fully recover their economic ties that were impacted by Beijing's retaliation over Seoul's deployment of the THAAD system.
