Seoul to give foreigners Korean names to promote Hangeul Updated: 2019-12-03 16:45:32 KST

Non-Korean citizens have a chance this week to be given a Korean name by the city of Seoul.
The move is part of efforts to promote the Korean alphabet 'Hangeul'.
Any foreigner can apply on the city government's English website until Saturday by submitting a personal story relating to Korea.
The city will then choose ten people and give them Korean names which will be delivered via email.
The Seoul Metropolitan Government first ran the contest to commemorate Hangeul Day in October.
