China's foreign ministry has announced it will not allow U.S. Navy vessels to dock in Hong Kong, in response to Washington's passing of a legislation supporting the pro-democracy protests on the island.
Sanctions on several NGOs that have supported the movement were also put in place.
Beijing's foreign ministry spokesperson Hua Chunying told a press briefing today, that the NGOs in question were inciting violence among protestors and sowing seeds of chaos in Hong Kong.
She also urged the U.S. to stop meddling in China's domestic affairs, adding that further sanctions may be possible from Beijing to protect its national interests.
