The wife of controversial former Justice Minister Cho Kuk has been arrested after a local court issued an arrest warrant for the professor.
The Seoul Central District Court's decision early Thursday on Chung Kyung-sim comes 58 days after the prosecution started a probe into Cho's family.
The court said it was concerned evidence may be destroyed in light of the current investigation.
She is alleged to have been involved in forging a college presidential citation in relation to her daughter's academic admission.
Chung also faces allegations of embezzlement and capital market law violation for an over 850-thousand U.S. dollars private equity fund investment by herself and her two children.
With this latest development, there's a high possibility the prosecution will be calling in her husband for questioning.
