N. Korean vessel seized by U.S. authorities auctioned off Updated: 2019-09-22 18:14:54 KST

A North Korean vessel that was seized by U.S. authorities has been sold off, according to a media report.
Voice of America cited an unnamed government official from the U.S. Marshals Service, which has custody of the vessel.
The official said the ship had been sold through an auction earlier this month, and that the buyer and the price will not be revealed.
American authorities captured the boat earlier this year, which had been suspected of carrying illegal coal shipments.
A federal court in New York authorized the sale of the ship, after a claim filed by the parents of Otto Warmbier, an American student who died after being detained in North Korea.
Some of the proceeds from selling the ship may go to Warmbier's family, according to the report.
