Japan pushed out of the list of top ten beer exporting countries to Korea Updated: 2019-09-16 16:25:19 KST

Korean imports of Japanese beer have continued to plummet amid the nationwide boycott on Japanese products in protest of Tokyo's export curbs.
According to data from the Korea Customs Service, 223-thousand U.S. dollars worth of Japanese beer was imported in August, pushing Japan out of the top ten beer exporting countries to Korea.
Japan had enjoyed the largest share of Korea's imported beer market, from January 2009 to June of this year.
However, in the aftermath of Seoul's trade spat with Tokyo, Japanese brew fell to third place in the ranking of beer exporters to Korea for the month of July, further plummeting to 13th place last month.
