From this Saturday, the United States will be hitting China with an another 15-percent tariff on a list of goods worth some 125 billion dollars.
At the same time, the President Trump has revealed that the two sides are resuming talks "at a different level."
Speaking on Fox News Radio on Thursday, Trump did not elaborate on what he meant by "different level," but emphasized the importance of getting results this time around.
At the G7 summit earlier this week, Trump said China had expressed its desire to reach a trade deal with Washington.
Beijing later denied there had been any such contact.
