Top office official meets executives of S. Korea's top 5 conglomerates on Tokyo trade curbs Updated: 2019-08-09 05:33:11 KST

The Chief of Staff for Policy at South Korea's presidential office met on Thursday with executives of the nation's top five conglomerates, where they are presumed to have shared ideas on ways to cope with the trade spat with Japan.
Industry sources say Kim Sang-jo met executives from Samsung and Hyundai Motor, among others.
With the meeting held behind closed doors, details of the talks have not been made public.
Kim also met the President of Seoul National University as the country's top school has announced plans to launch at special task force to help local firms affected by Tokyo's trade restrictions.
