Thai cave boys mark one year rescue anniversary with marathon Updated: 2019-06-24 10:01:26 KST

One year ago this week, the entire world witnessed the dangerous and unprecedented rescue mission to save a Thai youth football team and their coach who had been trapped in a flooded cave for 18 days.
Marking their one year anniversary of the drama that propelled them into celebrities on Sunday, some of the 12 young Thai soccer players and their coach led a charity race near the Tham Luang cave.
Around 4-thousand people took part in the marathon and biking event organized by local authorities to raise funds to improve conditions at the now famous cave complex in northern Thailand.
Donning the event's orange shirts and looking notably taller, nine of the boys ran along their coach as they beamed and posed for the cameras.
