President Moon leaves for Northern Europe for week-long trip, with focus on peace and inclusive growth Updated: 2019-06-09 10:13:18 KST

President Moon Jae-in readying a trip to Scandinavia, for state visits to Finland, Norway and Sweden.
One of the major events during his 8-day trip - a keynote speech at the Oslo Forum in Norway.
Taking place on June 12th, the first anniversary of the Singapore Summit, the President is likely to reiterate his stance regarding peace on Korean Peninsula.
He could also perhaps deliver a message to North Korea, aimed at ending the impasse in denuclearization talks since the Hanoi summit.
The Presidential Office says the visiting Korean leader will lay out a blueprint for establishing peace on the peninsula, while showing his appreciation for the Northern European nations’ support of his peace initiative.
And the president is also scheduled to address the parliament in Sweden,… a place where three-way talks between the Koreas and the U.S. took place.

"The expectation is that we will reaffirm cooperation on completely denuclearizing the Korean Peninsula and establishing lasting peace in the region with the help of Northern European nations."

Another focal point of the President’s trip to the northern European nation,… economic cooperation.
By visiting Finland, known for its advanced start-up ecosystem, the hope is to seek ways to boost innovation.

"Through a start-up summit inviting some 200 start-up business leaders from both countries, we hope to foster more partnership opportunities.

In Norway, the president hopes to boost cooperation in realizing an eco-friendly economy, and upgrade cooperation in Artic development and shipbuilding.
And visiting Sweden, his last stop of the three-nation tour, the Korean leader hopes to foster cooperative labor-management relations and further promote his administration's push to build an inclusive nation.

"Though the top office says it hopes to deepen partnerships on peace, innovation and inclusive growth, anticipation is high that the president may use the opportunity at the Oslo Forum to introduce a new strategy aimed at tackling the impasse in denuclearization talks."
