S. Korea's income gap narrows slightly in Q1 Updated: 2019-05-23 19:02:55 KST

The monthly average income of the bottom bracket declined by two and a half percent on-year to around 1-thousand U.S. dollars due to a fall in wages.
However, Statistics Korea explained, the income gap between the top and bottom 20 percent narrowed slightly in the first quarter to 5.8 percent.
That's an improvement from near six percent tallied in the same period last year.
Those in the upper bracket saw their wages fall 2.2 percent to about 84-hundred dollars, the first decline since 2015.
