South Korea raise travel alert level for Myanmar's northwestern region in border with Bangladesh and India Updated: 2019-04-16 20:59:45 KST

Korea adjusted its travel alert for Myanmar to its highest level, banning its citizens from traveling or visiting the northwestern states of Rakhine and Chin, which border with India and Bangladesh, and ordering those who are already in those areas to evacuate immediately citing high safety risks.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs also issued its second highest travel alert recommending the evacuation of regions near the border with China, Laos, Thailand, and India.
The warnings come as various regions in Myanmar are going through political unrest, leading to the outbreak of armed disputes in some cases.
