The U.S. and Japan are set to start two days of trade talks in Washington on Monday.
U.S. Trade Representative Robert Lighthizer will lead the dicsussions with Japan's economy minister Toshimitsu Motegi.
Tokyo is expected to focus on trading goods, while the U.S. is hoping for more comprehensive talks including services.
President Trump has frequently complained that Japan has an unfair advantage in bilateral trade.
