Local university brings 3D printing education to rural areas Updated: 2019-03-20 09:38:37 KST

This 3D printing pen allows users to draw with heated plastic instead of ink.
The little device serves as a freehand 3D printer, …and lets the students create three-dimensional objects.
More elaborate works like human faces are created using a 3D printer.

"It was cool and fun to make a bag and face just like mine using the pen."

Young men serving their mandatory military service were also able to learn about 3D printing …and make their own creations using 3D printing pens.
The free education program was offered by Kyungdong University and funded by the local government …to provide rural areas with 3D printing education.
Since last November, more than 300 people have participated in the program.

"I would like to ask for more support and cooperation so that regions outside the capital area stay interested in the fourth industrial revolution."

The university's knowledge sharing platform is expected to help bridge the learning gap between urban and rural areas.
