Global smartphone shipments fell for the first time last year on the back of a saturated market and a lack of innovative devices.
According to market research firm Strategy Analytics on Tuesday,… smartphone vendors shipped a total of 1.43 billion units worldwide in 2018, down 5.1 percent compare to the previous year.
Global shipments decreased 2.6 percent on-year in the first half of last year and fell significantly to 7.3 percent in the second half, posing challenges to smartphone vendors in search of new growth engines.
North America posted the biggest decline of 13.2 percent, followed by Western Europe with a 6.3 percent drop over the period.
