Russia considers sending 50,000 tons of wheat to North Korea as part of humanitarian aid Updated: 2019-02-12 10:01:59 KST

Russia is considering sending 50-thousand tons of wheat to North Korea as part of humanitarian aid.
Citing a Russian lawmaker, the Interfax news agency said such measure comes at the request of Pyeongyang, which explained it's still trying to cope with natural disasters.
According to a UN report in December last year, the North faces food shortages after scorching heat last summer and extensive flooding.
Russia continues to provide food aid to North Korea via international organizations like the UN, and has provided some eight million U.S. dollars from last year until now through the World Food Programme.
