Prior to his visit to the National Assembly, U.S. President Trump had attempted to make a surprise-- unscheduled trip to the DMZ, the closest you can get to North Korea-- but his trip was canceled shortly after his helicopter took off due to bad weather, a dense fog hindering visibility.
The White House says President Trump was disappointed and expressed frustration. He had waited an hour to see if the sky would clear out-- but had to return to Seoul.
And also waiting at the DMZ, President Moon Jae-in who had arrived there in advance to greet his visiting counterpart.
Though the visit came as a surprise for many, it's been said that the two leaders had scheduled this trip to the heavily-fortified border yesterday when they sat down together for talks.
The Blue House official says President Moon had recommended the trip to his American counterpart, even offering to go with him--
And if you remember, President Trump, even before he embarked on his Asia tour, had mentioned that there would be a surprise during his visit-- which could have been this somewhat unscheduled trip to the DMZ.
