Kang and Tillerson talk ahead of Trump's visit to South Korea Updated: 2017-11-06 04:09:05 KST

Seoul's foreign minister Kang Kyung-wha spoke with her U.S. counterpart Rex Tillerson over the pohone on Sunday to arrange the final details of President Trump's visit to South Korea on Tuesday.
Kang expressed hope that Trump's visit will help strengthen the alliance, and Tillerson said he expects the trip will a send a positive message on their joint commitment to denuclearizing North Korea.
Tillerson also welcomed the recent joint statement by South Korea and China aimed at improving relations.
He said he hopes Beijing lifts its unofficial economic sanctions placed on South Korea in retaliation for the deployment of a U.S. missile defense system, and that Seoul-Beijing relations improve so they can work together on North Korea.
