Nearly four in ten men in Korea smoke: data Updated: 2017-11-05 09:00:40 KST

Nearly four in ten men in Korea smoke, according to data released by Statistics Korea based on a survey conducted throughout last year.
Although the smoking rate has fallen in recent years, the proportion of Korean men who smoke is still higher than the OECD average.
In an effort to curb smoking, the Korean government increased the price of cigarettes two years ago by 80-percent to four-U.S. dollars a pack and last year required tobacco companies to put graphic images showing the harmful effects of smoking.
