Korea's electric-car market has grown nearly four-folds in the span of a year.
The trend is mainly driven by the surging popularity of EVs made by local carmakers.
According to the Korea Automobile Manufacturers Association, over 72-hundred of these green vehicles were sold in the nation during the first eight months of 2017.
That's three.seven times higher compared to the same period last year.
Hyundai Motor's 'IONIQ Electric' model topped the sales chart, with more than 47-hundred sold, followed by Renault Samsung's SM3 and the Kia Soul.
In contrast, imports struggled to win over local drivers, with the BMW i-3 selling just 11 vehicles in the country.
Tesla sales are not officially tallied here in Korea and were thus omitted from the latest figures.
