North Korea has reportedly been operating clothing factories at the Kaesong joint industrial complexwithout informing South Korea.
Citing Chinese sources, Radio Free Asia said North Korea is secretly running 19 garment factories making clothes for its domestic market as well as for customers in China.
However, RFA noted that it could be hard for the factories to secure orders going forward because a recent UN resolution has banned the North from exporting textiles.
The complex, an inter-Korean collaborative project, was meant to have been shut down by Seoul in February 2016, after the North's fourth nuclear test.
But sources say the clothing factories have been operational for over six months.
