Korea's exports rise 35% in September to US$ 55.1 bil. Updated: 2017-10-01 10:32:29 KST

Korea's exports surged to an all-time high in September, thanks to strong sales of semiconductors and displays.
The trade ministry says outbound shipments came to 55.1 billion U.S. dollars last month, up more than 14 billion dollars from a year earlier.
Exports surged past the previous record set three years ago by almost 4 billion dollars.
Korea's exports have been booming since late last year thanks to an uptick in oil prices and a recovery in global trade.
In fact, September was the sixth month in a row that exports have risen by double digits.
Imports were also up last month by almost 22 percent, but still leaving room for a healthy surplus of nearly 14 billion dollars.
