South Korea and U.S. heads of trade met in Washington over Free Trade Agreement Updated: 2017-09-21 10:38:21 KST

South Korea's trade minister and the U.S. Trade Representative met in person for the first time in Washington on Wednesday.
Seoul's trade ministry says Kim Hyun-jong and his American counterpart Robert Lighthizer discussed possible amendments to the five-year-old South Korea-U.S. Free Trade Agreement.
A spokesperson for the USTR said Kim and Lighthizer "discussed ways to move forward", following their first video conference in August, but no further details were disclosed.
The talk comes after President Trump's denouncement of the FTA, which he blames for Washington's growing trade deficit with Seoul.
