South Korea's defense ministry to move Patriot missile system to Seoul area Updated: 2017-09-14 07:20:50 KST

South Korea plans to move one of its Patriot missile batteries-- currently in the southeastern part of the country to the capital Seoul area.
Defense Minister Song Young-moo said that, by the end of next year, a Patriot missile system, now in Daegu will be moved-up North, and reinstalled in Seoul to upgrade defenses of the capital and its surrounding areas.
This is in line with the installation of four additional THAAD launchers in Seongju, Gyeongsangbuk-do Province that places Daegu in its defense range.
Apart from the U.S. missile defense system, South Korea has around eight Patriot batteries on the peninsula.
