North Korea unveils footage showing scientists assembling hydrogen bomb Updated: 2017-09-11 07:11:50 KST

The day marking North Korea's 69th founding anniversary has passed, but the possibility of the regime pushing ahead with yet another provocation remains a serious concern.
Watchers are now eyeing the date of the upcoming UN Security Council vote for much tougher sanctions, as well as October 10th or around it, a holiday marking the founding of North Korea's ruling party.
And marking their founding anniversary on Sunday, the North's state-run TV released video footage showing scientists assembling what the regime claims is a hydrogen bomb.
The report said the footage was shown during a celebration marking the success of its recent nuclear test, with leader Kim Jong-un and his wife Ri Sol-ju in attendance-- along with scientists and technicians.
